Title: Contribucion a la fauna malacologica Cubana.
Description: Habana, G. Montiel y Comp., 1878-[1880]. 8vo (23.1 x 16.2 cm). 280, [xxxv] pp. Near contemporary black grained half calf over marbled boards. Spine with five lightly raised bands and gilt title. Brown endpapers. Speckled edges. = A seldom-seen work on Cuban marine, freshwater and terrestrial molluscs, written by the Cuban malacologist Rafael Arango y Molina (1837-1893). It includes a "Supplemento" with several new species, and a review of the parts published and their dates of publication. Provenance: Arthur Fairfield Gray (1855-1944), his name in gilt letters on the spine foot. Donated to Gray by the author (handwritten dedication on the front wrapper). Subsequently received from the Gray library "given to me by Mr. Goodspeed ... 1942" by the American malacologist Richard Irwin Johnson (1925-2020). Goodspeed may refer to the Boston bookshop of that name. Johnson's stamp below Arango's dedication, and on the front free endpaper. rectangular black patch on front board, otherwise a very good, attractively bound copy.
