Description: Cape Town, The South African Philosophical Society, 1907. 8vo (23.1 x 15.0 cm). 115 pp.; 14 lithographed plates, of which two partly in full colour. Contemporary pebbled half cloth over black boards. Spine with gilt title. Speckled edges. = A most important contribution to the knowledge of the opisthobranchs and tectibranchs of southern Africa, with many new species. Written by the Danish malacologist and foremost 19th century nudibranch specialist Ludwig (or Ludvig) Sophus Rudolph (or Rudolf) Bergh (1824-1909). Published in the Society's Transactions, Volume XVII. A few small, unrelated titles in the rear. Stamp of the American malacologist Richard Irwin Johnson (1925-2020) in the top margin of the first text page, above the drophead title. Boards a bit worn; a few small spots, otherwise very good. Rare. Not in Nissen.
