Description: Paris, Société Zoologique de France, 1889-1911. 24 volumes in 25. 8vo (24.0 x 16.0 cm). Ca. 15000 pp; numerous plates (lithographed, some hand-coloured, several in photography). Near contemporary half calf and half morocco over marbled boards. Spines with raised bands and gilt titles. Volume I and 19(2) in original printed wrappers. = An important French zoological series, with many fine, well-illustrated monographs. Mollusca, fish, mites, Crustacea, and fossil Echinodermata feature prominently. This set is neatly bound, however, in three different styles, 2-18 in two rather uniform, neat series (2-8, and 9-18) in black half calf, the following in red morocco. After 1911, the series was published irregularly, with some wide gaps. From this period we add, in original wrappers, the volumes 26, and 28-30(1). The last issue is dated 1950. Volumes 1 and 19(2) uncut, as issued. Damp-stain to the top margin of Vol. 19(2). Otherwise a very good set.
