Title: A monograph of the free and semi-parasitic Copepoda of the British Islands. Volumes I-III. [Complete].
Description: London, The Ray Society, 1878-1880. Three parts in three. 8vo. 413 [148, 182, 83] pp.; 96 [1-93, 10A, 24A, 24B] lithographed plates of which seven [11, 57, 60, 69, 70, 71, 72] partially hand-coloured. Original uniform blue embossed cloth with gilt title on spines and gilt monogram on front boards. Top edge gilt. = A very well-executed work on the British fresh water and marine copepods (also useful in other parts of northwestern Europe) by the British zoologist George Stewardson Brady (1832-1921) who also described many groups of smaller crustaceans from the Challenger expedition. Several new taxa, mostly species, are included in this work, together with thorough revisions of others. In the rear of each volume we find the usual Ray Society paraphernalia. Front hinge of volume I starting, small library stamp and superimposed cancellation stamp on front flyleaves and title pages, and one plate verso (not shining through. A weak marginal damp stain to volume III, otherwise a nice, complete set. Nissen ZBI, 525.
