Description: London, Taylor & Francis, 1910. 8vo (22.7 x 15.3 cm). xiv, 322 pp., two full-colour plates with explanatory text leaves, 76 fine text illustrations. Original blind-stamped burgundy cloth. Spine with gilt lines and title. = The complete sections on flower chafers and rhinoceros beetles of this famous series, written by the British entomologist Gilbert John Arrow (1873-1948). Includes the description of several new species. This is the rare original, carefully bound and with fine, full colour plates. Modern reprints are no match. Uncut. Inscribed by former owner, the Dutch entomologist and tropical Carabidae specialist C. J. Louwerens, in the top margin of the title page. Between pp. 132-133, a former owner - probably Louwerens - has tipped in a full colour illustration of Cetonia aurata L., otherwise an excellent, clean copy. Added: the invoice, dated 1935 by a Dutch book seller, to Louwerens, with an address in the Dutch East Indies (Indonesia).
