Description: Dublin, The Royal Dublin Society, 1885. 4to (27.1 x 21.8 cm). 172 pp.; two lithographed plates. Disbound. = A very rare ppublication on Hawaiian beetles, with the introduction and illustrations of many new species and some new genera. Written jointly by the English - later Australian - Anglican priest and entomologist Thomas Blackburn (1844-1912) and the English entomologist and one time president of the Entomological Society of London and editor for the Zoological Record, David Sharp (1840-1922). The new taxa are described either by Sharp or Blackburn (indicated by their initials), the latter describes the landscape and collecting localities (Appendix), the other parts were written jointly. Disbound from the Society's Scientific Transactions. Last text page erroneously numbered 300 instead of 290. Vague small stamp in the top margin above the drophead title. No foxing - which seems to be quite unusual - and in all a very good copy of this rare work. Horn-Schenkling II(1), p. 292.
