(Wikipedia). He was one of the founding members of the Geological Society and a Fellow of the Royal Society, of which he became president in 1822, on which occasion the present portrait was issued. A few tiny holes in the right margin (from previous binding), moderate toning and spotting towards the margins, otherwise good.
