Large 8vo (28.2 x 19.2 cm). 326 pp.; 38 text figures, 28 plates, with explanatory text leaves, of which 21 heliogravures or printed photographs, and six large, folded maps, of which one, not numbered, very large, in full colour, preserved in rear pocket. Contemporary marbled wrappers, part of the original front wrapper mounted. = A rare work by the French geologist, zoologist, and herpetologist René Léon Bourret (1884-1957) the same author of several work on the herpetology of the region. This is his thesis; a very detailed, and well-illustrated study. The plates show views of landscapes and geologically interesting formations. Two plates loose, with the fore-edges a bit frayed, otherwise in very good condition.
