Description: Amsterdam, C. G. Sulpke, 1834. Oblong folio (24.6 x 39.2 cm). 35 pp., eight large, engraved plates. Contemporary quarter cloth over marbled boards. = A rare, well illustrated work, translated and corrected from the German original by the Dutch botanist Willem Hendrik de Vriese (1806-1862), who was active in the Netherlands and the former Dutch East Indies (Indonesia). There are several later editions (1841, 1853), in 8vo. This seems to be the first and only edition in folio. Provenance: the name W. M. Perk, in an old hand on the front free endpaper recto. Some wear to spine ends; otherwise a very good, clean copy. Stafleu and Cowan, 1455.
