Uniform early 20th century half calf over marbled boards. Gilt title on the spines. = A major work by the French entomologist Louis Ernest Marie Bedel (1849-1922). Published "hors série" and therefore quite rare. The third part was never published. In the fourth part the section on Staphylinoidea was written by J. Sainte-Claire Deville (not listed in Horn-Schenkling II). This set is near complete, only lacking the much later published[1930 (!) - therefore also not listed in Horn-Schenkling II] - pp. 235-362 of part IV, on Serricornia, which was written by A.
