Spine covered with cloth tape, title written in white ink. = This new edition replaced several earlier lists which were written by J. E. Gray between 1844 and 1873. "The illustrations are quite accurate" (Vanzolini). The fine, lithographed plates by Peter Smit show turtles. This is the original edition, not the inferior 1966 reprint. Bookplate on front paste-down, library label tipped in on front free endpaper, stamp on title, and Spine crudely repaired with dark blue tape.
