Description: Paris, F. G. Levrault, 1825, 1827. Two papers in one. 8vo (20.3 x 12.3 cm). 303 [159; 144] pp. Contemporary full calf. Spine with gilt title and ornaments. Edges green. = Two important works by the great French geologist Alexandre Brongniart (1770-1849). The first paper is the unaltered "réimpression de l'édition 1824" published in the "Dictionnaire des Sciences Naturelles au mot Minéralogie". The second paper seems to be in first edition. According to Ward & Carozzi the first paper should have two plates, but this is a misunderstanding: The work has no reference to any plate but does contain a "Tableau méthodique" in two series, which, however, are textual. Boards somewhat rubbed especially on the spine and with the top end a bit frayed, otherwise a very good copy. Both works are definitely rare - we have not seen any other copy of the first title in the last 40 years. Ward and Carozzi, 337, 338.
