Description: London: Printed by Thomas Roycroft, for the author, 1665-1668. 0. Hardcover. Folio. [vi], 211, [i]pp. Title-page in red-and-black. Lacks pp. 201-208. This is the first folio edition with illustrations in large format, but the second edition overall. Half calf, with older spine mounted. Portrait of author signed "P. Lilly pinxit P. Lombart sculpsit Londini." Other plates signed by Wenceslaus Hollar, and D.D.D. Engraved head-pieces and initials. Illustrations to fables 14-15 are combined in one engraving. Portrait plate and 38 other plates missing. ESTC R11060; Wing A693. Extensive staining throughout; some, in a limited number of pages, quite heavy. Two leaves damaged; repaired, but with text supplied in a very attractive hand in a few lines. Fair.
