Contemporary vellum. With the frontispiece portrait of Pufendorf. With the ownership inscription of C. C. Saur, dated 1738. This book came from the library of William R. Smith, a descendant of William Smith, the founder of the University of Pennsylvania. I have not been able to ascertain the Saur signature, and to find out if there is a connection to the Pennsylvania printers (even though the spelling is somewhat different). An intriguing thought! A very good copy. Good.
