The main text in this volume is a rare translation of Richard Allestree's bestselling "The whole duty of man" . Richard Allestree or Allestry (1619 - January 28, 1681), was a Royalist churchman and provost of Eton College from 1665. These texts comprise of sermons and prayers. These are set down in an easy to read way, suitable for all the family. There are 18 chapters to the first book in this volume. In a calf binding. Externally, rubbed. majority of the spine is detached. Some loss of leather to the boards, with the leather peeling in places. Boards and marked with some scratches. Ink inscription and library stamp to the front free endpapers. Internally, binding is loose. Pages are lightly age-toned with the odd spot and handling mark. Pages 225 to 240 of the first text and pages 8 to 10 of the third text, are detached but present. Pages 161 to 192 of the first text, are attached loosely by one central chord only.
