Neatly written on faintly lined paper.'Emmeline' written in pencil to the verso of the front endpaper, written in the same hand as the essay.Throughout the essay there are the occasional corrections written in another ink, presumably a teacher marking the essay.Occasionally dated throughout the text, the earliest date being October 11th (1862), and the latest being 26th March 1863 in Emmeline's hand, and 30th March 1863 in the teacher's hand.Bookplate of Egerton Parker to the front paste down. Parker was a teacher and house master at Hereford Cathedral School for over twenty years. Generally known as Ege Parker, he was passionate about the study of history. In the original cloth binding. Externally, generally smart. Spine is a little faded, with minor fading to the head of the front board. Minor marks and a little rubbing to the boards and spine. Minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. Small patch of lifting to the head of the spine. Bookplate to the front paste down. Rear endpaper is detaching to the tail. Doodle to the recto of the rear endpaper. A few pages to the rear have been excised. Internally, generally firmly bond. Pages are a little age-toned and clean with a few spots. Faint tide mark to the margin of the first few pages. Good . Ill.: None. Good .
