 - Popeye with Pop-Up Pictures

Title: Popeye with Pop-Up Pictures
Description: Paulton, Purnell and Sons, 1960. Hardback. A bright pop-up book of the beloved character Popeye and his adventures, a very scarce book by Purnell. A pop-up book in the original pictorial paper boards. 3 pop-up models and many colour illustrations accompanying the text. Collated complete. The fictional cartoon character of Popeye the Sailor Man was created by Elzie Crisler Segar, and first appeared in the daily King Features comic strip Thimble Theatre in 1929. Popeye became very popular, firstly through the comic strip and later through cartoon shorts. Over the years, Popeye has also appeared in comic books, television cartoons, video games, and hundreds of advertisements. In this book Popeye, Olive Oyl and Swee'pea go fishing and end up in trouble - but Popeye saves the day. With lovely colour illustrations and pop-up models. In the original pictorial paper boards. Externally very smart, with just a little bumping to the extremities and the head and tail of the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Pages 7 and 8 are a little abraded, affecting a small area of the illustrations. One of the pop-up models is slightly creased and one does not sit up as it should. Colour is bright externally and internally. Very Good . Ill.: Not Stated. Very Good .
