Robert Andrew Scott Macfie became one of England's leading authorities on Roma/Gypsies and their language, recording vast quantities of dialect, folk-tales and songs from various bands of Roma/Gypsies in Britain. He revived the Gypsy Lore Society, and paved the way for the publication of the Journal of the Gypsy Lore Society, of which this is vol XIX of the third series. This is the work of Anglican priest and acknowledged scholar of Romany language and culture, Frederick George Ackerley. In the original paper wraps. Externally, smart with shelf wear to the edges and some creasing to the front panel. Fading to the spine and front panel. Some marks to both panels. Loss to the upper spine. Small tear to the upper spine. Internally, frontispiece is loosening but otherwise firmly bound. Pages generally bright and clean with a few scattered spots, heavier towards the front and back.
