Illustrate throughout with vignette photographic illustrations from images captured by the Countess herself.The author provides an account of her travels in Canada in the late nineteenth century, during which she captured many images with her early Kodak camera, which had only just been released.Ishbel was viceregal consort of Canada from 1893 to 1898 and of Ireland from 1906 to 1915.A British author, philanthropist, and an advocate of women's interests, after her death, Ishbel's daughter wrote that 'Ishbel interpreted the duty of wife as one who not only provided for her husband a serene background in private life, but as one who also thought and fought for him in all his affairs&apos. In the publisher's original cloth binding, with gilt detailing. Bumping to back strip head and tail, with fading to tail of front board. Tail of front hinge starting, with board holding firm.
