Complete in nine volumes. The text of this edition has been revised throughout and profusely illustrated with new and original drawings, with each volume having reproductions by Rembrandt Photogravure and colour plates of historical paintings by famous artists. The first volume describes from the Roman Invasion to the War of the Roses and has seven plates and a frontispiece. The second volume describes from the War of the Roses to the Great Rebellion, with seven plates and a frontispiece. The third volume describes from the Great Rebellion to the Fall of Marlborough, with seven plates and a frontispiece.The fourth volume explains from the Fall of Marlborough to the Peninsular War, with six plates and a frontispiece. The fifth edition describes from the Peninsular War to the death of Sir Robert Peel, with seven plates and a frontispiece.The six volume is from the death of Sir Robert Peel to the illness of the Prince of Wales, with twelve plates and a frontispiece.  The seventh volume is from the illness of the Prince of Wales to the British occupation of Egypt, with thirteen plates and a frontispiece.Collated, complete. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, very smart with some light marks to some of the boards, especially volume seven. Some bumping to the head of the spine of volume one.
