An early edition of this work, very scarce in all editions. The earliest found is dated 1860. This 1877 edition is only held at Newcastle University libraries. Pocket sized work reprinted from Chambers's 'People Editions', consisting of a collection of some of the most interesting narratives of maritime discoveries and adventures, such as Columbus's discovery of America, an escaped shark attack, Ross's expedition, pirate tales &c. all illustrative of life at sea. In the original publisher's full cloth binding. Externally smart with minor shelf wear, minor bumping to head and tail of spine and extremities. Previous ownership inscription to front free endpaper, dated 1879. Stamp to front free endpaper reading 'Entlichen oder gestohlen bei Dr. H. Goethe.' Internally, binding is tender, split to p. 32.
