Containing sixteen coloured plates of eggs, collated, as well as various in text illustrations. A beautiful, informative study of the nests and eggs of common British birds, written by Henry Gardiner Adams. Adams was an English author and anthologist, known for writing juvenile literature under the pseudonym "Nemo". Other works by Adams include "Beautiful Butterflies" (1855), "Humming Birds" (1856), and "Beautiful Shells" (1855). Prior owner"s ink inscription to the recto of the second front endpaper, "Eduardo Digby Hiddyard honoris causa d.d. H W Sneyd Kignnerslew. DW.II. (Trials) Prid. Kal. Auf. MDCCCLXXVI". In calf leather binding. Externally, very smart. Light rubbing to extremities and spine, particularly to head and tail of spine and joints. Marbled paper to pastedowns and endpapers. Ink inscription from previous owner on front endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. Light spotting to front and end pages. Otherwise pages are bright and clean. Very Good Indeed . Ill.: Not Stated.
