Bound in half calf on cloth boards.Illustrations include 'upwards of two hundred illustrations by eminent artists', with engravings by the Dalziel Brothers.'The Arabian Nights' Entertainments', otherwise known as 'One Thousand and One Nights' is a collection of folk tales from the Middle East. They were originally compiled in Arabic during the Islamic Golden Age, and have been re-published and re-printed in a countless number of different forms. Contents include stories such as 'The History of the Fisherman', 'The History of Sinbad the Sailor', 'The Three Apples', 'The History of the Barber', and 'The Story of the Sleeper Awakened&apos. Undated, so dated off of Jisc from an identical copy held at the University of Oxford Libraries. This edition was published by Ward, Lock, and Tyler. Revised and edited by Henry William Dulcken (1832-1894), an English translator and children's writer who is best known for translating the stories of Hans Christian Andersen. Many of his works were illustrated by the Brothers Dalziel.The Brothers Dalziel was a wood-engraving business in Victorian London which was founded by George Dalziel and joined by Edward Dalziel, as well as their other siblings. They worked with many important Victorian Artists, including John Everett Millais and Dante Gabriel Rossetti, helping to illustrated works such as Edward Lear's 'Book of Nonsense' and Lewis Carroll's 'Alice in Wonderland&apos. Collated, complete.  Bound in half calf on cloth boards. Externally, generally smart. Rubbing and wear to the extremities and the spine, particularly to the raised bands of joints. Leather on spine is beginning to come loose from binding from the tail. Marks on boards. Hinges are starting but remain firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean, with light age-toning to pages. Good . Ill.: Various; The Brothers Dalziel. Good .
