Rebound in half-morocco on cloth boards.Illustrated with seven illustrated plates by Thomas Dalziel, a popular engraver. 'The Arabian Nights' Entertainments', otherwise known as 'One Thousand and One Nights' is a collection of folk tales from the Middle East. They were originally compiled in Arabic during the Islamic Golden Age, and have been re-published and re-printed in a countless number of different forms. Contents include stories such as 'The History of the Fisherman', 'The History of Sinbad the Sailor', 'The Three Apples', 'The History of the Barber', and 'The Story of the Sleeper awakened.Undated, so dated from the period in which the printers, R. Clay, Sons and Taylor, printed books from 1857 to 1885. Collated, missing title page. Rebound in half-morocco on cloth boards. Externally, generally smart. Some fading and marks to boards, with bumping to head and tail of spine. Rubbing to extremities as well as bands of joints. Gilt illustration on spine has faded slightly. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright with the odd spot and handling mark. Closed tear to fore edge of pages 76 and 77, which has been repaired with a post-it note to margin of page 76. The odd pencil inscription from a prior owner. Good . Ill.: Thomas Dalziel. Good .
