Pagination is continuous to each volume. Bound in without wraps as usual. With uniform title page to volumes I-III; V-VII; IX-X; XII-XVI. Publications from vol. I-VII by Hudson & Kearns, vol. IX onwards by the Offices of "Country Life" and George Newnes, with a new uniform title page with decorations.A British weekly magazine discussing all sorts of topics relating to the rural life, with articles on gardening, farming and fishing, furniture, horses, racing, and hunting, insects, golf, and much more. Primarily concerned with rural communities and their environment, although much of its success was built on its coverage of country houses, architecture, and gardening. Including reviews of books, wine, art and architecture, antiques and crafts. Featuring articles by notable contributors such as Bernard Darwin on golfing, Gertrude Jekyll on gardening, and Tim Yeo on politics. Illustrated with numerous decorations in text throughout. With advertisements and photographs. The present collection is comprised of the following volumes: Vol. I from January to July 1897, with a folding frontispiece; Vol. II from July 1897 to January 1898; Vol. III from January to July 1898; Vol. IV from July to December 1898; Vol. V from January to July 1899; Vol. VI from July to December 1899; Vol. VII from January to June 1900; Vol. VIII from July to December 1900; Vol. IX from January to June 1901; Vol. X from July to December 1901; Vol. XI, from January to June 1902; Vol. XII from July to December 1902; Vol. XIII from January to June 1903; Vol. XIV July to December 1903; Vol. XV from January to June 1904; Vol. XVI from July to December 1904. In a half calf binding over cloth covered boards with marbled edges and pictorial endpapers. Externally rather worn with some shelf wear and minor chipping to the head and tail of the spine, general scuffing to the leather. The back strip to vol. IV and XIV now laid down. Some cracking to the upper joint of vol. VII, holding firm. With damp marking tot he occasional boards, particularly to vol. X, XV and XI, with come cockling to the cloth. With a significant cracking to the joints, particularly the lower joint, and a minor loss to the tail of the spine of vol. XI, holding firm. Lacking pp. 839-876 of vol. XIV. Ownership inscription to the title page, with minor inscriptions to the odd leaf, some dated 1910. Minor closed tear to p.12 vol. IX. Minor damp staining to the upper right corner of the rear leaves of vol. XIV. Internally, the binding is generally firm, with slightly strained hinges which are holding firm. With a minor faint spotting to the fore edge, affecting particularly the first and last few leaves. Otherwise, the pages are generally bright and clean throughout. A minor closed tear to p.295 of vol. I, tape repaired by a previous owner. Illustrated with numerous decorations in text throughout. With advertisements and photographs.  Very Good .
