Primarily concerned with rural communities and their environment, although much of its success was built on its coverage of country houses, architecture, and gardening. Including reviews of books, wine, art and architecture, antiques and crafts. Featuring articles by notable contributors such as Bernard Darwin on golfing, Gertrude Jekyll on gardening, and Tim Yeo on politics. Illustrated with numerous decorations in text throughout. With advertisements and photographs. The present collection is comprised of the following volumes: Vol. XCIX, 1946 January to June; Vol. C, 1946 July to December; Vol. CI, 1947 January to June, one page with illustrations in colour, without the uniform title page and subject index; Vol. CII, 1947 from July to December; Vol. CIV, 1948 July to December; Vol. CVII, 1950 January to June, including seven leaves of colourful advertisements; Vol. CVIII, 1950 July to December, with eighteen leaves of colourful advertisements; Vol. CXI, 1952 January to June; Vol. CXII, 1952 July to December with twenty-five leaves of colourful advertisements; Vol. CXIII,, 1953 January to June; Vol. CXV, 1954 January to June.  From the library at Julian Park, Hertfordshire, belonging to Audrey Pleydell-Bouverie. Audrey was the youngest daughter of an Anglo-American lumber and steel millionaire, sister to Edward James, a key figure in the Surrealist movement, and the illegitimate granddaughter of King Edward VII. She was an English socialite known for her beauty and for charming various wealthy men, she was included in The Book of Beauty by Cecil Beaton. A patron of the arts, she assisted Viscount Carlow financially in the publication of limited editions of numerous works by leading literary figures such as T E Lawrence, James Joyce, Wyndham Lewis, and others. A hedonistic pursuer, she was recognised as one of the 'Bright Young Things&apos.  In a quarter morocco binding signed Sangorski and Sutcliffe, with five raised bands, marbled endpapers, and gilt to the top edge. Externally very smart with minor shelf wear only and minor rubbing to the spine and boards, only some sunning to the spine and minor general marking. Internally, firmly bound. With a faint minor spotting to the fore edge, affecting only the endpapers. Otherwise, the pages are bright and clean.
