Description: Paris, Gumuchian & Cie. [1930]. First edition. Cloth. A limited edition illustrated catalogue of the fine bindings at the Gumuchian library, in both English and French. An extensive large paper catalogue with descriptions of three hundred and ninety eight fine bindings from the Gumuchian libraries, with text both in English and in French. Dated 1930 from the same copy on Jisc held at the British Library. One of one thousand copies on vellum paper. Most of the bindings are illustrated with some lovely photographs over one hundred and thirty five full page plates, of which eleven coloured. Collated, complete. Inscribed to Audrey-Pleydell Bouverie 'from Russell,' dated 1938. This volume is from the library at Julian Park, Hertfordshire, belonging to Audrey, the youngest daughter of an Anglo-American lumber and steel millionaire, sister to Edward James, a key figure in the Surrealist movement, and the illegitimate granddaughter of King Edward VII. She was an English socialite known for her beauty and for charming various wealthy men, she was included in The Book of Beauty by Cecil Beaton. A patron of the arts, she assisted Viscount Carlow financially in the publication of limited editions of numerous works by leading literary figures such as T E Lawrence, James Joyce, Wyndham Lewis, and others. A hedonistic pursuer, she was recognised as one of the 'Bright Young Things&apos.  In the original publisher's full cloth binding. Externally sound with some shelf wear and a minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and extremities, with some fading to the spine and damp marking to the front and rear board. Inscribed to Audrey 'from Russell,' dated 1938 to the front free endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. The hinges and internal binding are professionally paper reinforced. The pages are generally bright and clean throughout with only a hint of age toning and some faint minor spotting to the first and last few leaves. Illustrated with one hundred and thirty five full page plates, of which eleven coloured. Collated, complete.  Good . Ill.: Not Stated. Good .
