First Thus.With a preface by Maffeo Pantaleoni. Principles of Economics was one of the first treatise to advance the theory of marginal utility: the idea that the marginal utility of goods, rather than labour inputs, is the source of their value; a theory which solved the diamond-water paradox, which sees mankind finding diamonds more valuable than water, although water is far more important. This rejected the cost-of-production theory of value developed by Adam Smith and David Ricardo. In the original publisher's wraps. Illustrated with a frontispiece portrait of Menger.
