This edition was translated from the second edition of the Grundsätze, edited by Carl Menger's son, by R. Broglio D'Ajano, and continued by N. Bonelli due to d'Ajano's death halfway through. First Thus.With a preface by Maffeo Pantaleoni. Principles of Economics was one of the first treatise to advance the theory of marginal utility: the idea that the marginal utility of goods, rather than labour inputs, is the source of their value; a theory which solved the diamond-water paradox, which sees mankind finding diamonds more valuable than water, although water is far more important. This rejected the cost-of-production theory of value developed by Adam Smith and David Ricardo. In the original publisher's wraps. Illustrated with a frontispiece portrait of Menger. In the original publisher's paper wraps. Externally very smart with minor shelf wear only and a minor edge wear, with only minor chipping to the head and tail of the spine. Internally, the binding is generally firm throughout, although the front free endpaper through to p. xvi as well as from p. 385 through to the rear endpaper are loose but present.
