The first edition of this topographical work descriptive of Abbotsford, the country of the tweed and its tributaries, and St. Mary's Loch. By the author of 'Historical and Descriptive Hand-Book to Edinburgh' identified as John Marius Wilson on Jisc. From 'Nelson's Hand-Book for Tourists' series. A pocket sized guide book comprised of introduction, routes, and descriptions, with general views of the district, lines of travelling, historical and topographical detail for information, amusement, or travelling, arranged in alphabetical order. Illustrated with a folding map of the district, and eleven full page plates printed in duo-tone. Lacking the frontispiece. In the original publisher's full cloth binding. Externally very smart with only minor shelf wear and some bumping to the head and tail of the spine and extremities. Lacking the front free endpaper. Internally, firmly bound, with the hinges only slightly tender to the title page. The pages are generally clean with some offsetting, as usual. Illustrated with a folding map of the district and eleven full page plates in duo-tone, with the 'Newark Castle' loose but present. Lacking the frontispiece. Very Good . Ill.: Not Stated.
