The first edition of the new series. The first edition of the new series of this volume, being volume I part II of a complete catalogue of the manuscripts in the British Museum. A volume complete in itself, with a complete catalogue of the collection of manuscripts collected by Reverend Charles Burney, brother of novelist Fanny Burney, also known as Madame D'Arblay. His collection contains approximately five hundred and twenty manuscripts, many of which are early copies of Greek and Latin classics. This work is illustrated with four full page elaborate and coloured lithographs. Collated, complete. In a full paper covered boards binding variant with the title label pasted to the front boards, pricing "18s, with coloured plates, £3 3s." Externally sound with some shelf wear and chipping to the head and tail of the spine and extremities, with a minor bumping. The boards are only slightly soiled. Internally, firmly bound. With a light minor spotting and offsetting to the endpapers, otherwise the pages are bright and clean. Illustrated with four full page elaborate and coloured lithographs.
