An early edition of this exciting historical account of the exciting life and adventures of Mampfylde-Moore Carew, self proclaimed the King of Beggars. An early edition of this work, originally published in 1745. The life, travels, and adventures of Bampfylde-Moore Carew, an English rogue, vagabond, and impostor of the eighteenth century. He self-proclaimed as the King of Beggars. A great success, there have been numerous editions as books and chapbooks of this exciting and entertaining historical account. It is difficult to ascertain the validity of the contents of this volume, as some of the stories being too fantastic or literary. The book states that the contents were penned by Carew himself, however it is suggested the author to be Robert Goadby. Including a canting dictionary to the rear. Illustrated with a frontispiece.  In a full calf binding. Rebacked. Externally smart with slight shelf wear and minor rubbing and chipping to the leather, particularly to the extremities. With a small bookseller sticker to the front pastedown, as well as a minor previous owner's inscription. Internally, firmly bound. With a light tone ageing to the leaves, as usual.
