This work comprises a collection of ballads and broadsides printed between 1559 and 1597 during the reign of Queen Elizabeth I.Containing the bookplate of Norman and Janey Buchan. Janey (1926-2021) was a Scottish Labour Member of the European Parliament for fifteen years; she was an important Glaswegian figure. Norman (1922-1990) was a Labour party politician representing West Renfrewshire between 1964 and 1983 and the Paisley South from 1983 until his death. He penned a work called '101 Scottish Songs' based on his interest in folk music. In the publisher's original full cloth binding. Externally generally smart, with slight bumping and wear to the head and tail of the spine and extremities. Internally, generally firmly bound, with the front hinge strained after the title page but remaining firm. Pages are bright and clean. Very Good . Ill.: None. Very Good .
