His edition of Aesop's Fables was first issued in 1722 and was celebrated for its colloquial style and is then followed by 'instructive applications&apos. Prior owner's inscription to the front endpaper, 'C Kirk&apos. Aesop's Fables originally belonged to the oral tradition and were not collected for three centuries after Aesop's death. In a full calf binding. Boards are detached. Minor rubbing to the spine, with loss to the head and tail of spine. The textblock is firmly bound.
