Volume I contains poems on several occasions, 'Rosamond, an Opera', 'Notes on Some of the Stories in Ovid's Metamorphoses', 'An Essay on Virgil's Georgics', 'Cato', 'Poemata', and 'Dialogues Upon the Usefulness of Ancient Medals&apos. Volume II contains 'Remarks on Several Parts of Italy', 'The Tatler', and 'The Spectator&apos. Volume III contains 'The Spectator&apos. Volume IV contains 'The Spectator', 'The Guardian', 'The Present State of the War', 'The Late Tryal and Conviction of Count Tariff', 'The Whig-Examiner', 'The Free-Holder', and 'Of the Christian Religion&apos. Addison is best known for his working relationship with Richard Steele, with whom he founded 'The Spectator' magazine. 'The Spectator' ran from 1711 to 1712, being a daily publication. Addison also held form the Kit-Kat Club, which renewed his friendship with Richard Steele, whom he at met at Charterhouse School. His most famous work was 'Cato, a Tragedy', a successful play about Marcus Porcius Cato Uticensis. Addison and Steele founded several publications during their friendship, including the literary and social journal "Tatler", which published from 1709 to 1711. Edited by Thomas Tickell. In a full calf binding. Externally, smart. A little bumping to the extremities. A small amount of loss to the head and tail of the spines. Light marks to the boards. A little rubbing to the spines. Small cracks to the joints. Hinges of Volume II are a little strained and remains firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are lightly age toned with the occasional spot and handling mark. Very Good .
