A very scarce first edition of this pocket companion work for Freemasons, containing a short history of the Freemasons, and a selection of their songs. A very scarce work. The first edition of this work. Bound without the title page, title information is taken from the ESTC citation number N18657, and from the title page to leaf F3 for 'A Collection of the Songs of Masons&apos. Also bound without the first six leaves called for by the ESTC. An extensive and fascinating work on the Freemasons, written by the Freemasons for the Freemasons. Containing a detailed history of the Freemasons, and a collection of songs, charges, regulations, articles, and an account of lodges. Masonic music is a defining feature of the masonic lodges, played to a keyboards before or after meetings and during meals. Wolfgang Mozart wrote some music for the Masons, 'Maurerische Trauermusik', or 'Masonic Funeral Music', and 'The Magic Flute' opera.
