'An Authentic Account of the Conversion and Experience of a Negro' is a pamphlet recounting an Englishman's encounter with a Christian slave in the state of New York, in the late eighteenth century. The author states that he met the man whilst visiting a plantation, and he fell into conversation with him. When the conversation started, he realised that the man was enamoured by the Bible, however mostly out of fear of his owner, a Quaker who had taught his slaves to read, rather than his own joy of pursuing religion. The pamphlet ends with a statement of the spiritual equality of all men in the eyes of God. Disbound. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned and clean. A small amount of edge wear to the head of the first leaf. The leaves have been trimmed at a slant. Very Good Indeed . Ill.: None. Very Good Indeed .
