Description: London, George Eyre and Andrew Strahan, 1799. Disbound. A very scarce disbound collection of prayers from the Church of England, including morning prayers, communion service, and evening prayers. A very scarce work. Disbound. This work is a quarto, the signatures running as A-B4, C2. Collated from the ESTC, complete. In this issue the press figures are on pages 5, 6, 14, 16, and 18, and respectively are 7, 6, 2, 1, and *4. Each variant on ESTC has different press figures, though the closest to this copy is the listing with the citation number N66911. A collection of prayers from the Church of England, containing both morning and evening prayers, and the communion service. It was intended that the prayers would be spoken in various Churches of England across England, Wales, and in Berwick upon Tweed, on the 27th February, a day of fasting. There are prayers for a variety of occasions, including, 'in the time of war and tumults', 'for the safety of our fleets', 'for our enemies', and 'for St. Chrysostom&apos. Prior owner's ink inscription to the tile page, scribbling out seven words of text of the title, 'the Twenty-Seventh of this instant February', and 'Oct 19th, October .. 1803' to the margin. Prior owner has also scribbled out the original date to the title page, 1799, and inked '1803' next to it. Disbound. Externally, generally smart. Tidemarks to the wraps, with a couple of light marks. Internally, disbound, with puncture marks to the gutter. Pages are very lightly age-toned and clean. Prior owner's ink inscription to the tile page. Very Good . Ill.: None. Very Good .
