The first edition of this work. A referential work outlining the registers of the baptisms, marriages, and burials in Wimbledon, Surrey, from the 1530s to 1812. Also listing an index of names and places. Wimbledon is a district and town in the South-West of London. It is now well known for being the home for Wimbledon Common, where the Wimbledon Tennis Championship takes place, and has done since 1877. The area has been inhabited since before the Iron Age. Prior owner's ink inscription to the recto to the front endpaper, 'Bruce Hughes 1983&apos. Loosely inserted is a booklet from a 1985 wedding between Catharine Gardam and Christopher Nicholson at St. John the Baptist's Church in Wimbledon. In the original cloth binding. Externally, smart. A little bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. Minor fading to the front board. Prior owner's ink inscription to the recto to the front endpaper. Internally, firmly bound.
