This is accompanied by an ink inscription to the front endpaper that reads 'Bramwell St. John Gates, With Compliments and Best Wishes for Xmas 1948 from L. R. Sandford and L Chandler Chamberlain&apos. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally smart, with minor shelfwwear. Light spot to the front and rear endpapers, with an ink inscription to the front endpaper. The dustwrapper is worn. The front joint has failed with the dustwrapper in two pieces. Light chips to the head and tail of the spine. Large chip to the head to the head of the front of the wrap, alongside a small tear. Large patch of loss to the centre of the backstrip, with heavy sunning to the spine. Small tear to the head of the rear joint.
