The first edition of this work. The twenty-fourth volume of 'The Studio' magazine. 'The Studio' was an influential magazine that focuses on fine and decorative arts, founded by Charles Holme in 1893. The magazine had a large influence on the Art Nouveau and Arts and Crafts movements. It promoted the new art of artists, designers, and architects, promoting the works of people like Charles Rennie Mackintosh and Charles Voysey. Containing a look at the artists' colony at Darmstadt, old English glasses, a look at leather bookbinding, the international society, a collection of book reviews, and more. Illustrated with fourteen colour plates, one folding plates, twelve monochrome plates, as well as numerous in-text and full page illustrations. In the original publishers cloth binding. Externally, generally smart. Light rubbing to the boards and spine. Minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. Internally, the binding is strained in places.
