With very many illustrations including maps, plans, photographs, autograph letters, portraits etc. Volume 1 contains 5 loose plans in the rear pocket and volume 2 contains 2, as called for. Original brown cloth gilt, top edges gilt. Bindings somewhat rubbed and faded with a few marks here and there, but still very tight and sound. Some of the folding plates within the book have been misfolded at some time so are a bit creased and dusty at the edge, with some marks to the back of one. The plates in the pockets are very good. These impressive volumes are the major work on the Manchester ship canal. A very sound working set.
