Description: London, Simpkin,Marshall and Co, 1844. Two volumes, pp. 288, 282. The first edition with a London imprint (though actually printed in Heywood and Manchester). First issued in parts between 1839 and 1840, then in volume form in 1842. In this edition the glossary is withdrawn from volume one and a table of contents is added, and four extra chapters dated 1844 are added to volume two. Original cloth a little rubbed, but sound. Contents a bit used, with some dirty thumb marks, but still an acceptable pair.
