Description: Newcastle, T and J Hodgson, 1827, pp. [2], xxii, 312, complete with engraved frontis. and seven plates, 4 illustrations in the text and 2 double-page pedigrees. Bound in modern cloth-backed marbled boards, fore and bottom edges untrimmed. Some foxing of plates and adjacent pages, but very good condition. Armorial bookplate of Willam Henry Brockett and with inscription by John Trotter Brockett recording the book's gift to him by the author and his gift of it to his son W H Brockett. The Brocketts were a prominent family in Newcastle and Gateshead. The collection survives in Newcastle and is notable for its inclusion of specimens brought back by Captain Cook. Two of the cuts are by Thomas Bewick and there are copper engravings of the Rakkelhan Grous and the Wombat by Robert E Bewick (Hugo 472).
