Minor to moderate underlining, small owner stamp each front end-paper o/w interior generally clean. Introduction by Henry Cabot Lodge. Annotated and revised by Peter J. Healey. Author was a U.S. Senator from Minnesota and Chairman of Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, as well as Minnesota Governor 1874-1876. Portrait frontis (yellowed at edges) with tissue. Dusty, signed letter (dated 1898, from a Henry Castle ?) on Treasury Dept. stationery folded and laid in, addressed to a man in St. Paul. The letter relates, it appears, to the planning of this volume, as it alludes to Davis' university lectures mentioned by Lodge in his introduction. Fair.
