Title: Outdoor Horizons - A Book About American Wildlife For Sportsmen And Those Who Love The Outdoors "With Special Articles by Eminent Outdoor Writers; Twelve Paintings and Twenty-four Drawings by Roger E. Preuss" [Signed Copy x 12]
Description: Minneapolis, Denison, 1957, First Edition. 1957, 1st Edition. Hardcover . Hardback, quarto, gilt on green cloth, 231 pages, VG+/no dj. Numerous photos of wildlife, nature, outdoor activities. Thirty-two total contributions. Richard J. Dorer signed twice at two of his poems. Ten other signatures: Stu Mann at Foreword, Jack Connor at "Upland Game Hunting", Walter Breckenridge at "Annual Cycle of the Wood Duck", Herbert Mueller at "The Raccoon", Frank Blair at "The Ring-Necked Pheasant", Leo Pachner at "Bass Fishing", Anthony Lane at "Archery and Bow Hunting", Fred Blessing at "The Woodland Indian - Conservationist", Roger Preuss at his bio and facing full-page seated photo (easel, pipe) on location, Les Blacklock at "You Can Photograph Wildlife". Other articles on Ducks Unlimited (B.W. Cartwright), Whooping Cranes (Robert Allen), Geese, Pike, Decoys & Blinds (Walter Bush), Fly Tying, Mule Deer, Duck Stamps, Audubon Society's Irston Barnes - "There Are No Varmints", NRA'S Louis Lucas - "Community Responsibility", Hunter's Pledge, Conservation Pledge, The National Conscience, Salute The Colors (foliage!). FFEP neat ownership name, address, city & gift note. Contents very clean. No pages or plates are missing, but the listing of the twelve paintings (intended as the color representation of Preuss in the book) belies the fact that one of these paintings is printed b&w. I believe the Preuss "drawings" in the book also are mostly paintings reproduced in b&w for this publication. Very Good. Signed by Author.
