Description: Philadelphia, Leary & Getz, 1859, stated Sixth Edition. 1859. Hardcover with dust jacket. Hardback, 12mo, appx 5 1/2 x 7 1/2 inches (13.75 x 19.25 cm), decoratively blind-stamped brick red pebbled cloth, all 348 total pages present (simplified interpretation: [i-iv], [i-viii], 9-151, 152-296 + 48 pages of ads), Fair condition with spine cloth absent, stiff clear acetate dustwrapper provided to preserve condition. Binding sound with hinges intact (minor wiggle both f&b) & yellow endpapers intact. No names, no writing, no bookplates, but some internal stains & spots of foxing (mostly limited to the front endpapers and the first blank) + areas of light tidemark + boards some spots and darkening/grubbiness (back cover worse than the front) & w/ corners knocked and rubbed through. Frontis "The Devil at Home" is present (he grimacing a smile in his easy chair perusing the morning paper or evening news). Text within mostly very clean w/ only a few top corners turned over and no tears but 2 leaves (pp 199-202) separated imperfectly (one very small fore-edge chip out). Note: Table of Contents verbiage for Part I Chapter III begins "Of the Original of the Devil", so Original in the title apparently intended. Fair/Dust Jacket Included.
