Description: New Delhi, Department of Environment, Government of India, 1984. 1st Edition. Hardcover with dust jacket. Hardback, slightly squarish tall octavo, appx 7 1/4 x 9 1/2 inches (18.5 x 24 cm), 124 pages, VG+ in Near Fine dj (dj now in protective mylar). Tight binding with hinges intact. Glossy dj clean & wholly intact with white titling & numerous colorful graphics f&b covers on black background + solid black unprinted interior flaps. Title page neat gift inscription: "To the Smiths, With Love, Raj & Choodi, Patne." Very small triangular nick out of the fore-edge of the last page of the book (front-facing Indira photograph, rear-facing 2-color illustration of the rfep). Numerous b&w photos, many are full page. Graphics/illustrations throughout in two shades of brown. Contents probably gathered from various speeches, essays, articles, commemorations, addresses, etc. Topics include: Farmers, Forests, Lions, Technology, Plundering, Basic Needs, etc. Rear matter includes excerpts from Ashoka's Pillar and Rock Edicts. Last image in the book is of Indira Gandhi watering a newly planted palm tree (perhaps?), and laid-in at the rear endpapers is a well-preserved palm leaf or frond just about the size of the book (a stem with numerous long, thin leaves). Preface by T.N. Khoshoo dated 5 June, 1984 (less than 5 months before Indira Gandhi's assassination). Very Good/Near Fine.
