Hardback, 16mo, appx 4 3/4 x 6 7/8 inches (12 x 17.5 cm), black paper-covered boards (bright gilt titling and decorations on spine), pp vi, 360, Good only. Exterior: attractive spine though minor wear at head and heel, surfaces of boards generally decent (not much wear, but very minor spotting/spattering to front board and the same just a bit more noticeable to lower board), chipping along edges of boards, corners only lightly bumped but rubbed through with a little rounding. Tight binding despite 5cm split to front external joint up from bottom edge & 4-page "signature" laid-in loose (title page and Vorwort - which I wouldn't be afraid to reaffix very carefully if it were to be so-requested of me). Overall foxing throughout a little worse than minor, but certainly moderate to some pages including Title Page, Vorwort, Inhalt. Endpapers very minor foxing. FFEP previous owners' neat signatures & stamp (2 or 3 generations of same family). Author's Vorwort dated Dolhain, Belgium, December, 1844. Good.
