Title: Geraldine Farrar - The Story of an American Singer, by Herself
Description: Houghton Mifflin, 1916. 1916, 1st Edition. Hardcover . Hardback, octavo, appx 5 3/4 x 8 3/8 inches, gilt on dark green cloth, x + 115 pages, VG+ to Near Fine/no dj. Great condition. Lightest bit of rubbing to corners and ends. Binding sound, hinges intact, clean outside & clean and crisp within (no names, no writing). Frontis portrait + 43 photographic plates (childhood, roles, out-and-about, admirers (Mark Twain, King Oscar, throat specialist Dr. Holbrook Curtis, Marconi, Kate Douglas Wiggin, The Kaiser, etc.), other musicians (Caruso, Lilli Lehman, Camille Saint-Saens, Massenet, Sarah Bernhardt, etc.), California & Hollywood. Three items laid-in: tiny Yule-tide Greeting card dated 1916, four-leaf clover (no stain) & Houghton Mifflin postcard "Important Biographies of 1916" (ten titles with prices, "net, postpaid" with the Farrar book at the top of the list). Not an oversized book at all, but not as thin as you might think with only 115 pages, as the paper is thick and the numerous plates are substantial, as well. Very Good.
