A bit of splattering to the front board, which doesn't stand out too greatly. Corners and ends only light bumping and not much rubbing at all. Solid binding, hinges intact, clean interior, no names, no writing. "Seventy-Five Illustrations in the Text, Many in Colors" Scarce title by, according to what I've gleaned in research, the Chief of Medicine and first full-time professor at Johns Hopkins, recurited from Columbia Univ. in 1914. Author lived 1872-1917, graduated 1892 Yale. I've seen two dates for the invention of the sphygmomanometer - 1891 & 1896, the invention credited to Samuel von Basch. Eight sphygmomanometers are discussed, including the author's own. Low and high blood-pressure, variations in the individual, internal diseases, infectious diseases, diseases of the brain, blood-pressure during operations, surgical accidents, impaired nutrition, etc. Bibliography of Literature. Indexed. Very Good.
